#53 Climate change is real, so here's how to help
Small steps we can take to make a positive impact in combating climate change.
First and foremost, we want to send our thoughts and support to everyone affected by the severe weather in Florida. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and on the road to recovery 💚.
These recent events show just how real and urgent climate change is, but they also demonstrate the resilience of our communities and how it’s more important than ever to make sustainable choices where we can.
At Beni, we’re all about meeting shoppers where they are to help make those sustainable choices as easy as possible. We believe that these simple swaps, at scale, can add up to significantly reduce fashion’s burden on the planet.
Of course, fashion is only part of the story. So, if you’re interested in learning more about other opportunities to make a positive impact on the climate crisis, check out this comprehensive guide from Commons.

Beni Thrift Tips and Tricks
Did you know Amazon’s annual emissions are equivalent to that of Ireland?! Well, we have good news: we’ve updated Beni so it now works with Amazon Fashion.
Anytime you’re tempted by “irresistible” deals on Amazon (we see you, BFCM 👀), simply use our browser extension or add “checkbeni.com/” in front of the product URL and hit enter to find secondhand swaps.
Community Spotlight: Commons
Who they are: A platform all about helping people live more sustainably.
What they do: Commons provides tools and resources that make sustainable living less intimidating and fun! They break down your everyday choices and show how small actions can add up to big climate wins. Plus, by completing various eco-friendly actions and challenges, you can earn rewards that can be redeemed for gift cards or fund climate solutions.
Why we're talking about them:
As mentioned above, Amazon creates a lot of emissions. In response, Commons is hosting a "No Amazon" challenge in October, encouraging participants to boycott Amazon and instead shop with sustainable brands. Throughout the month, you can earn 10x points when you check out with Amazon alternatives instead!

This is not meant to be a gotcha in any way, but you guys use AI to make Beni work right? What impact does your AI have on the environment, i.e. is it designed differently/is it less energy-intensive than other AI? I also know that there’s a difference between generative and non-generative AI, so maybe that’s where yall are different…would love some more information!
